Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American singer and musician, is well known for her musical talents. She was the youngest and first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In her first years she split her time between London New Delhi. The first time she performed was at New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. After moving to Encinitas, California in 1999, she was awarded a high-school certificate. While she's still young Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for many years. The singer released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. Anoushka Shankar's career is not only limited to music. In 2002 she published an autobiography titled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which pays special tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in movies in 2003. She was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she portrays an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shakar's career as a professional will only continue to grow and develop. We are looking at seeing lots of different things that she does. Anoushka Shakar was born in England was a major part of her time between London Delhi. Following her move to California she completed high school. At the age of 9 she began her studies in music alongside her father. Her debut performance on the Sitar took place in her 75th birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Her father traveled around across the world with her and she was able to gain many new experiences. While still teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. In recognition of being an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
